Another early start this morning as we continued to drive our way out of the Rocky’s and down to Kamloops. Before we had even moved 20kms M saw a black bear ambling alongside of the TC Hwy!! I couldn’t believe we would see one that close to the main road

Our first stop this morning was at the little ski town of Revelstoke. The entrance and exit to the town are flanked by big bears and large timber porticos! It’s an old gold mining town, some of which is done up and beautiful and some of which is still waiting..

Next stop was to stretch our legs in Glacier NP. This park has a beautiful rainforest walk so we couldn’t resist. The canopy and ground were quite reminiscent of our walk thru the old growth forest in Glacier NP (Montana). Plenty of huge cedars and fir trees and apparently there are truffles in this wood!! I’m not sure if they are the same truffles as you eat, and that the pigs find in France but maybe??

Our drive continued out of the mountains until we arrived in the town of Kamloops (and our stop for the evening). We had organised to stay with some friends of M&D, Peter and Janet, who live here in Kamloops. Before we headed to their place we grabbed a cuppa in town and went for a short walk around by the river. Kamloops is a moderately sized town set on the banks of the Thompson rivers (the north and south branches converge in the middle of town) and in a valley between some smallish hills.. When I mean smallish I mean smallish compared to the Rockies.. largish when compared to mountains in Oz!!! J

We were very fortunate because again our hosts had prepared dinner for us so we didn’t have to worry about food or drinks for the evening! Dinner was a delicious bbq out on their deck overlooking the town! Very picturesque and very relaxing.. After having a full belly and some stimulating conversation we headed to bed with the plan that our hosts would take us up to their family’s weekender on the Caribou plateau.

  1. They haven’t been able to actually find the truffles because the bears keep eating the pigs!!!

Ok, I’m pretty jealous that you have seen a bear
