dsc_7200Another glorious morning and another glorious view of Mt Fuji! This morning I decided to test out the public bathing facilities after the obligatory Fuji viewing and OMG.. I am in love with Japanese bath rituals! This bath-house totally rocks all over the roof top one I posted about the other day. Sadly no pics (too many people using the bath house for me to smuggle in my phone) so i’ll have a crack at describing.

dsc_7207Firstly, the dis-robing room. This is the room where you disrobe + dry yourself when finished. It is kitted out in typical Japanese fashion with every conceivable luxury- hair dryers, straighteners, top quality facial creams etc. Next stop the public bath house. First, sit on the small stools in front of a mirror and wash yourself down. Next, slowly sink down into this huge rock pool with water fall- water coming straight out of the hot spring under the town. Next stop, down to the steam bath room- in here there is a standard sauna (although kitted out with Japenese tv), a wet sauna and lastly another rock pool.. Total bliss! I could get super duper used to a daily Japanese bathing ritual…. maybe there is an Aussie business idea in this one! (Although Aussies may not take to the whole idea of the nakedness…)

dsc_7235Before heading out of Kawaguchiko (today we’re off to Kyoto) we went for another walk around the lake and managed to get some pretty a-ok shots of Fuji surrounded by reds and yellows!! Truly a beautiful little part of Japan. All too soon though it was time to leave this gorgeous part of the world and jump onto a multitude of trains to make our way to Kyoto (back via Tokyo!)

Four trains later (one of which was decked out in pictures of Fuji– more photos for Evan) and we eventually arrived in Kyoto. For any readers who haven’t visited Japan– do not worry about catching trains.. Nothing simpler- all the trains have English and Japanese so you always know which station you are up to and where you are going.

dsc_7237Our only impression of Kyoto is one big train and bus station, filled with shopping + souvenir shops! Maccas ended our day (first one we’ve seen and I’ve been dying to try a Teriyaki burger… not surprisingly— average). Off tomorrow to see plenty of temples, shrines and hopefully more awesome autumn colours!
