49: Tour Guiding

21.05.2012 – 21.05.2012 semi-overcast 14 °C

We actually started quite late this morning as we wanted to do some shopping. Our shopping was all surrounding our need to start planning the Eastern side of our trip and our lack of knowledge of what we can do on the other side. So, first stop was at a local second hand book shop (no luck) and a Barnes and Noble. Good old B&N came thru with both an Eastern USA book and a Canada book so guide booked up we continued our trip northward towards Glacier NP (I spent the remainder of the morning reading and trying to get a feel for how many days we would need in each part of the East coast).

Our route was some what circumspect today we started driving westwards before turning north just before Flathead Lake. The lake is quite beautiful (its surrounded by snowy mountains) but the weather had started to come in so visibility wasn’t fantastic. Lunch was an amusing affair. We pulled into this small town looking for a supermarket to get some stuff for sandwiches. Driving thru we saw this entrepreneur selling hot dogs… Pretty funny because he would have been at least 70 and had set up a road side stall complete with his webber and picnic tables from home! Anyway, we couldn’t help but drive back to him to get a hot dog.. I mean, he’d gone to all the effort of running his own stall and I can’t imagine its going to be raging success considering the population of the town!!! J

By the time we arrived at the town Kallispell (around 3.30 pm) the weather had really closed in and it was raining quite hard. Rather than continue into Glacier NP we decided to stop for the night get ourselves some din-dins and spend the evening catching up on some work.
