New adventure, new blog!

This time it’s a road trip across south western USA and into Texas, finished off with some Caribbean cocktails + cigars in Cuba. Should be another memorable trip.

Flying this time with Virgin. VA1 from Sydney to LAX.

How to describe the trip?.. long, crap tv (seriously Virgin have got to do something about on board entertainment) and little to no sleep (although plenty of alcohol and Valium..) Arrived at Sydney International to discover my visa for the US wasn’t valid… Hmm.. Actually, zero stress. Fixed within 10 mins and I was in and through immigration. Inside the airport my only job was to find out how many Cubanos I could bring back into the country plus find some adapters as my favourite universal has gone missing 🙁

On board, welcome champers consumed and I kicked back for an interminably long day time flight to the US.. Honestly, the worst flight from the point of view of sleep. Lie flat beds don’t help much when you just can’t sleep because it is the middle of the day! Best thing about flying virgin is that they have the on board bar, so I whiled away some time down at the bar swigging baileys on the rocks and trying to get a bit sleepy… No luck but plenty of fun conversation.

Had my usual issues with legs.. Seriously got to look at my circulation/ nerve issue.. Getting more and more uncomfortable the more I fly long haul.. I remember being in serious pain when coming back from Japan, this one wasn’t quite as bad but ye old flight socks just don’t cut it for nerve pain!

Anyway, enough bitching and time to get excited! We land in less than 30 mins at which time I’ll do the immigration thing and wait for the folks somewhere near baggage handling. (They are on the flight from Brisbane which is behind me). Apparently we have an action packed day, so here’s hoping I can keep my eyes open today!
