First day + night in SA!

I was pretty happy with my first Jet lag sleep in a few years. slept thru most of the night + woke fresh for our 6am leave for airport. The folks got unlucky with the alarm + missed out on their morning ritual…. Fortunately I am traveling with them so no missed flight! Made it to airport with plenty of time to spare, enough for us to all down a cooked brekky…. Total cost $18 AUD

Arrived in PE (Port Elizabeth) + picked up an Audi, our wheels for the next 9 days + headed into town. Downtown PE reminds me of another gorgeous 19th Century town that time forgot. Beautiful old Colonial buildings surrounded by concrete, dirt + dereliction. We did some building gazing (its a public holiday here today) + bought some warmer clothing before heading sea ward in search of lunch. Lunch was fish + chips over looking the mighty southern ocean. A picture perfect way to kick off our trip.

Post lunch saw us hit the high way + head west to Jeffries Bay; home to SA surfing + Great Whites! Typical sea side village with the wind BLOWING a gale. Dad + I took off for a walk down to the beach, no hanging 10 for us but I did test the water temp. A balmy 16-18 deg~ might have to consider whether I’ll brave the water ~ can’t use temp as an excuse…. sharks?.. Chinese + Wine rounded out Day 1 in SA, tomorrow on to Garden Route
