9: Soccer and Snoozing

16.06.18

Three full on days in a row and both of us were feeling pretty drained this morning when we awoke to the stunning views of the French Riveria. Today the boat docked out to sea near the town of Villefranche (between Monaco and Nice). We had decided to not get off the boat until lunch time so that we could both recover somewhat and actually have a bit of a rest.

As it turned out we didn’t end up getting off the boat at all! Our morning was spent with me on my laptop and S reading his book.. midday arrived and we both hurried downstairs to watch the Aussies play the French in the opening to our world cup campaign.. Goodness it was an intense game.. S and I (with six other die hard soccer fans) groaned, cheered and sat on the edges of our seats til right at the end when we ultimately lost to the French… robbed we say!

Anyway, by the time the game was over we had both consumed a few too many beverages and really weren’t in a very fit state to get off the boat and go exploring so we decided to have a siesta up on the pool deck after spending some time in the Jacuzzi.  Dinner time came and S went downstairs to join the Texas Hold Em tournament.. well he tried to join—he was the only entrant so no tournament for S! Instead, he taught me how to play poker using sugar sachets as our “chips”.. no beginners luck! J

Anyway, after our version of the tournament we headed up to grab a bite to eat + then headed early to bed.  Another great day in paradise (or so they say!)—tomorrow we’re definitely going to get off the boat in Seté and check out a bit of the French Riviera.
