10: When there is nothing to see it’s more than alright to get the laundry done!

17.06.18

Yesterday was a day of doing not much (unless you count drinking, watching tv, swimming, poker playing and snoozing as staying busy) but today was going to be a busy day. Again we avoided the hoards and headed up to the pool deck for a swim + some brekky before heading down to get off the boat at about 11am.

Seté is an island town on the coast near Montpellier. Today we docked literally at the docks so we caught the shuttle bus from the dock to the edge of the town. We got off and started wandering and quickly worked out that there isn’t too much to the town of Seté.. we had a brain wave and decided to use the time to get our laundry done!

Apparently cruise boats don’t like you taking your bags off the ship mid trip so we had to do some fast talking to get the security guys to let us take our dirty washing off the boat to get cleaned.. Apparently they have had people get off with their bags and never get back on, so they were concerned we were thinking similarly. The head of security though was South African and as soon as we started talking he was happy for us to get off the boat to do some basic travel necessities.

So we settled in for an afternoon of washing and drying. First stop was to unload our washing and get that cooking, next time to find ourselves a French baguette, some meat and cheese and a cool spot in the shade for a French picnic. We found ourselves a small supermarket and were pleasantly surprised to remember that in Europe you can buy alcohol with your bread so we also purchased ourselves two French beers to wash down our baguette.

We walked back down to the waterfront and found ourselves a bench seat in the shade and commenced consuming our massive baguette with ham and cheese. Mon Dieu, French lunches are pretty alright!

Lunch over and we hot footed it back to the laundry to put our washing in the dryer before heading back out for a wander around. Finally the washing was all done, we packed up and left Seté behind for another evening of eating, drinking + hanging out on the ship.

Its our last night on the ship so we had planned on having a big night out.. unfortunately my stomach had other ideas! Its pretty windy here today in France and windy means waves, waves mean ship starts to rock, rocking means Di get’s a bit green! So by the time we had eaten dinner I was feeling pretty average. I headed back to bed to try and sleep off the sea sickness so poor old S had to just hang about on our last evening on the boat by himself. Sorry!!
